I have worked as an artist for five years, specialising primarily in book arts, with forays into installation art, printing and film-making from time to time. In 2003 I co-founded earwig books, a not-for-profit organisation whose activities include initiating book and print based projects with people of all ages. Examples of these include bookbinding and printing workshops for schoolchildren, university students and the general public alike, plus numerous projects with galleries, museums and community groups. I try to make book arts accessable to all - they can be an inexpensive way to 'exhibit' your work outside of the gallery context, and to disseminate information to an audience, not to mention the unique sense of achievement it affords those involved upon seeing their work in print. |
